【摘要】:Bondingofmanypolymericsubstratespresentsaproblemduetothelowwettabilityoftheirsurfacesandtheirchemicalinertness.Adhesivebondformationbeginswiththeestablishmentofinterfacialmolecularcontactbywetting.Wettabilityofasubstratesurfacedependsonitssurfaceenergy.Thesurfaceactivationwithelectricaldischargesimproveswettabilityofpolymersandsubsequentadhesivebonding.Thesurfaceactivationwithelectricaldischargesresultsinadditionofpolarfunctionalgroupsonthepolymersurface.Thehighertheconcentrationofpolarfunctionalgroupsonthesurfacethemoreactivelythesurfacereactswiththedifferentpolarinterfaces.Toachieveaproperadhesivebondthepolyolefinsubstratersquo;polarcomponentshouldberaisedfromnearzeroto15to20mJ/m2.Thepre-treatedsurfacesarereadyforapplicationoftheadhesiveimmediatelyafterthetreatment.1.1Thispracticecoversvariouselectricaldischargetreatmentstobeusedtoenhancetheabilityofpolymericsubstratestobeadhesivelybonded.ThispracticedoesnotincludeadditionalinformationonthepreparationoftestspecimensortestingconditionsastheyarecoveredinthevariousASTMtestmethodsorspecificationsforspecificmaterials.1.2Thetypesofdischargephenomenathatareusedforsurfacemodificationofpolymersfitintothegeneralcategoryofnonequilibriumornon-thermaldischargesinwhichelectrontemperature(meanenergy)greatlyexceedsthegastemperature.1.3Thetechnologiesincludedinthispracticeare:Note18212;Theterm"coronatreatment"hasbeenappliedsometimesintheliteraturetothedifferentelectricaldischargetreatmenttechnologiesdescribedinSection.ThispracticedefineseachelectricaldischargetreatmenttechnologyatatmosphericpressurepresentedinSectionanddrawsthenecessarydistinctionsbetweenthemandcoronadischarge.SeeTestMethodD1868for"coronadischarge."1.4ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.SpecifichazardstatementsappearinSection6.
